Beverly Haas, beloved wife of James of Calgary, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Beverly was a loving wife and mother. Besides James, her loving husband of sixty years, Beverly is survived by her two daughters, Lynne Haas (Ernest Shanahan), Cathy (Howard) Sharpe and one son James (Debra) Haas. She will also be missed by her brother Donald (Marjorie) Carmon and sister-in-law Barbara Carmon. Beverly was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Edna Carmon, her brother James Carmon and her beloved granddaughter Alicia Bateman, who was most precious to her. Beverly was born and raised in Wayne, Michigan. She received her nursing degree at the University of Michigan in 1952. While at university, she met her Canadian husband James who was attending on a hockey scholarship. They married on April 3, 1954 and in 1956 they came to Canada and settled in Calgary. She resided in Calgary for the remainder of her life, except for four years in Regina, Saskatchewan. Beverly was a member of Oil Wives in Regina. She played bridge for over forty years with the same bridge club in Calgary. The highlight of each day for Beverly was her gin rummy games with her husband. Beverly loved to travel. Over the years, Beverly and James traveled to all continents except Antarctica and extensively throughout North America. She enjoyed the winters in the warm southern United States. Beverly will be dearly missed and remembered for her loving and caring self. She will be forever in the hearts of the many people she has loved and touched throughout her life. The family would like to thank the Chinook Hospice for their kind and considerate care. As per Beverly's request, there will be no funeral. A private family interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of one's choice. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting leydens.com.
