E. Anne Rudiak (SSStJ), nee Thurgarland, passed away peacefully after a brief personal battle with cancer. Anne will be remembered by her husband, Ray, her daughter Dianne Brosseau, son-in-law Peter Brosseau, son Dan J. Rudiak and his wife Lorianne, son Dave Rudiak and his wife, Lori and grandchildren Matthew, Chantal, Tiffany, Victoria, Amanda, Hope and Austin, along with great-granddaughter Grace and her four-legged best friend Cheyenne.

Anne had been fighting this disease for others long before it came to attack her personally. A long-time volunteer at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, she gave a warm welcome to those who were fighting their own battle. As a volunteer and participant in the Tamoxifen drug trial, and by walking in October's "Walk to end Breast Cancer," she gave her all to help all women.

Anne was born, raised and married to Ray in Toronto. In 1969, they moved to Calgary where they decided to stay and raise their family. Ray and Anne became involved with the community, spending almost as much time with Saint John Ambulance as their three children.

Anne's passion for nature was formed early in her arrival in Alberta, she spent many winters cross country skiing in the Rockies and was especially fond of the tram run down from the Chateau Lake Louise and the Elk Pass trail in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park up to her precious winter "meadow."

In her retirement years, she continued her volunteering following her passion for the city and nature with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Calgary Field Naturalists Society, The Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area, the Bar-U National Heritage Ranch and the Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society. Cheyenne and Anne were both members of Pet Access League Society (PALS) and enjoyed many hours visiting seniors' residences and being read to by young readers at local libraries.

Donations in Anne's remembrance can be made to The Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area (http://www.crossconservation.org/) or The Friends of the Bar-U Ranch Historic Association (http://www.friendsofthebaru.ca.)

A celebration of Anne's life will be held; contact celebrateanne@outlook.com for details.
