Herman Kroschel of Acme passed away peacefully at the Agape Hospice in Calgary after a short illness. Herman was born and raised in Beiseker, Alberta. He was proud to serve overseas with the Calgary Highlanders in the latter part of WWII. Shortly after the war, Herman and Marj Schmidt met and then married in Trochu, Alberta in 1947. They celebrated their 63rd Anniversary on November 12, 2010. Herman and Marj began farming near Beiseker and moved to Bircham when Herman began working for Alberta Pacific Grain as an elevator operator where he worked for 30 years. He continued farming closer to Acme where he raised his family. An active member of the Acme community, he belonged to the Elks, their patrol team, Acme Legion, and Masons. Dad was an avid hunter and loved working as a taxidermist for many years. He is predeceased by his wife Marj, ten brothers and sisters and survived by three children: Lynn (Walter) of Cochrane, Barry (Brenda) of Acme and Kelly (Murray) of Calgary; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and his sister Mary Daubert. Memorial donations may be made in Herman's name directly to The Salvation Army Agapé Hospice, 1302 - 8 Avenue N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1B8.
