Marjorie E. Zankl of Calgary passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Marjorie worked in accounting for several years. She joined the Royal Canadian Navy and was stationed in Cornwallis. After her service, she went to England and worked in an aircraft factory. She travelled far and wide for several years and then came back to Edmonton where she married Fred Zankl of Austria. She started a trucking company with her husband, Zankl Transport Ltd. She sold real estate from 1973 to 1988 and loved the work. She was with the Chinook Rotary Club for over twenty years. She was a huge believer in volunteering and supported the Calgary Police Service for fourteen years and Youth Justice for four years. She loved travelling and spent her life doing what she loved. Marjorie leaves behind four children, Karen (Anil), Diana, Dale (Tracy) and Kevin; grandchildren Michael, Laura (Nathan), Taylor and Kendra; great-grandchildren, Dominik, Alexa, Owen and Kyla; brothers Jack and Ray (Jill); and sisters Bernice, Alice and Dorothy. She was predeceased by her loving husband Fred Zankl; baby daughter Brenda; four brothers, one sister, three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law. A Celebration of Marjorie's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wishes to gratefully thank the nurses, caregivers and doctors who supported Marjorie and also the staff at Chateau Renoir and Chinook Hospice for their care and support. In living memory of Marjorie Zankl, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
