CAMPBELL, Thomas Falconer
June 20, 1916 – Grangemouth, Scotland
February 12, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta
Thomas Falconer Campbell (Papa) passed away peacefully after a long fulfilling 97 year journey through life at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 with this family at his side. Tom (Papa) was born on Tuesday, June 20, 1916 in Grangemouth, Scotland. He moved to Canada with his mother Mary a year after his father George Campell in 1926. He has since become a very proud and loyal Canadian and Albertan. He resided in Edmonton from 1950 to 1954 and 1964 to 1973, and otherwise in Calgary where he enjoyed his life with his family. Papa was a highly competitive, avid sports enthusiast who loved all sports, but competed and favored mostly in football, cricket, tennis, curling, bowling and his biggest passion, golf. All, of which he achieved great success and satisfaction as well as numerous victories and endless awards which he proudly to this day, displays all of. Papa's career started after he graduated from Crescent Heights High School with Senior Matriculation in 1934. He began at Alberta Pacific Grain Company from 1934 to 1949, was in the Canadian Navy from 1944 to 1945, and ended his career, at the California Standard Company (now Chevron Oil) from 1949 to 1980, after 31 years of service as a Chartered Accountant. Papa was predeceased by his loving wife Evelyn Grace Campbell (1915 - 1992) and his only daughter Gail Patricia Adams (1940 - 1999). Papa was the truest of gentleman, an inspiration to all who knew him and an outstanding accomplished man. He was also a polite, happy, true to heart human, sportsman, spouse, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great- great-grandfather, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Papa is survived by his partner and lifelong friend Betty Hall, his sister-in-law Edith (Nonie) Hincks (Roger), his grandsons Tom (Kristy) and Scott, his great-grandchildren Trevor (Kasandra), Brandy, Brian and Heather, his great-great- grandchildren Jayden, Kaydence, Kennedi, Airiana and Kaelynne. Please join us in a Celebration of his Life at Calgary Elks Lodge and Golf Course Lounge (2502 – 6 Street N.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
