PERRINO, Vincenzo Francesco (Vince)
October 3, 1927 – Bonefro, Campobasso, Italy
June 19, 2014 – Calgary, AB
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and Nonno. Vincenzo Perrino, beloved husband of Concetta Perrino of Calgary, passed away on June 19, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Vincenzo was born on October 3, 1927 in Bonefro, Italy. Although he was a good student and loved school, his father was called to serve in the army in 1939 and Vincenzo had to work to help support his family. He married Concetta Pangia in 1954. In 1966 he sold his vineyard, and they immigrated to Canada with their kids, Leonardo and Cristina. Vincenzo's biggest challenge was moving his family to Canada where he had to learn a new language, culture, and way of life. The family lived in Banff for three years then moved to Calgary. Vincenzo worked at the University of Calgary for twenty-five years. He was a strong Catholic who always loved opera, soccer, hockey, music, making wine, gardening, and crosswords. His grandchildren were his passion, as he loved them dearly. Besides his loving wife of 60 years Concetta, Vincenzo is survived by his children Leonardo (Leticia) Perrino, and Cristina (George) Daklala; three grandchildren, Daniel and Diana Daklala and Vince Perrino; his niece Giovanna Perrino; his brothers and sisters in-law, and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Leonardo Perrino and Cristina Vaccaro; and his sister Maria Donato Perrino. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Queen's Park Mausoleum. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Vincenzo Perrino, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
