Hardee Monroe "Mike" Carter, 62, of Canon City passed away on January 25, 2013. He was born August 12, 1950 in Pueblo, CO. Hardee was in the
for four years from April of 1969 to March of 1973 and was a Vietnam Veteran. After being discharged from the Navy he ran a car lot with his father and then moved on to be a Correctional Officer at Centennial Prison facility until he retired after many years. He is survived by his children, Shelly Carter, Brandi (John) Hodgin, Shaun (Kandie) Carter; grandchildren, Rachel Debattista, Shantelle Benson, Christian, Cheyenne and Samantha Hodgin, Serenity Ramirez, Sydney Carter; sisters, Barbara (Bobbie) McKeown and Connie (Carl) Luddeke; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Hardee Leroy Carter and his mother, Barbara Corwin (Mayfield). A memorial service will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 am at Historic Gateway Community Chapel, 110 Santa Fe Ave., Florence. There will be a potluck dinner after the service.
