Leon Fancher Obituary
Leon Carroll Fancher, 78, went home to be with our Lord on January 4, 2014. He was born August 7, 1935 in Cartersburg, Indiana to Leon and Anna Frances Fancher. Leon grew up in the southern part of Indiana. After high school, he joined the Air Force in 1955 and served his country for 8 years, and was honorably discharged in 1963. He met the love of his life Martha Jo Springer and they were married June 9, 1957 in Roswell, New Mexico. Leon worked in the Liquid Petroleum Fuels Industry for 45 years. He retired in 2006. He started his own successful company, Gas Equipment Locators in 1999. He loved his family dearly and spent a lot of time with them through his many hobbies of boating, skiing, riding motorcycles, ATV's, camping, golfing, basketball, coaching softball with his girls, and just taking a ride in the car to go see what we could discover. He was a team roper in his younger days and a member of the Gold Wing, ATV, and Miata Club. He had a true passion for life and enjoyed it immensely. Leon is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Martha Jo; daughters, Cheryl Johnson of Ft. Leon has many extended family members and friends whom he loved dearly and the friendships that were extended to him from the E-Free Church in Canon City, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Anna Fancher; and sister, Betty Jean Robinson. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 12:00 p.m., prior to Funeral Services at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Evangelical Free Church in Canon City.
