Michael Nagel Obituary
Michael Dean Nagel, 67, passed away July 13, 2014 in Canon City, CO. The son of Dwight and Joyce (Ewing) Nagel, he was born January 19, 1947 in Sioux City, Iowa. Michael grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1965. Immediately following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served from 1965 until 1978. During this time he served in Germany and Korea. He was one of the chief mechanics for the Nike Hercules Ground to Air Missile Systems. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Michael attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He studied Interior Design and tended bar, while raising his two sons. In 1984, Michael moved to Canon City. He was a bartender at "Pockets" until it closed, then worked for Lockheed Martin at Ft. Carson repairing helicopters for the Gulf War. In 1992, Michael became the bartender for Merlino's Belvedere in Canon City. He retired from Merlino's, in 2010. Michael was united in marriage to Stephanie Stumph-Nagel on June 20, 1998 in Canon City. Mr. Nagel is survived by his wife, Stephanie of Canon City; sons, Aaron Von (Stephanie) Nagel and Jason Dean (Sandra "Nikki") Nagel both of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Logan, Nicole, Destini, Robert, and Carl all of Denver; sisters, Judy Mayhew of New London, MN and Lori (Stephen) Lee of Nashua, IA; brother, Stephen (Laurie) Nagel of Story City, Iowa; parents-in-law, John and Carol Stumph; brother-in- law, John (Anne) Lamman; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Daryl) Robinson and Kate (Mike) Green; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law and best friend, Michael Mayhew; and special Aunt Bernice "Miece" Ewing. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Canon City, with Pastor Robert Kippley officiating.
