Alex Budnie
age 88, of Canton passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013. He was born Nov. 17, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Alex served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Babcock & Wilcox in 1979 after 23 years of service. He was a member of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred M. (Choma) Budnie in 2000; brothers, Mike and John Budnie; and parents, Anthony and Catherine Budnie.
Alex is survived by his son, Michael (Kathy) Budnie of Front Royal, Va.; daughter, Sharon Budnie of Canton; stepdaughter, Sharyn Merryman of Canton; stepsons, Carson (Karen) Smith of Canton, Dennis Smith of Canton and Robert Smith; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Harbor Light Hospice and the Pines Nursing Home for all of the care and support given to Alex and his family.
Calling hours will be held in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. with Rev. Rick Kidwell officiating.
