Betty J. Wohlheter
87, of Brewster, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014, in the emergency department of
Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. She was born in Wilmot on April 14, 1927, to the late Otis and Lucy (Caladine) Berkey Sr., and had lived all of her life in the Wilmot – Brewster area. On July 2, 1946, she married Gerald W. Wohlheter. He died Jan. 25, 1979. She retired from the former Apple Creek Developmental Center; and was a member and past officer of the Wilmot Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Over the years she enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling, gardening, baking, needle work and was an avid sports fan.
She is survived by children: Cheryl Arthur of Spokane Valley, Wa., Kenneth (Trish) Wohlheter and Dwayne (Connie) Wohlheter, both of Navarre; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Wohlheter of Wilmot. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Gerald Jr.; a sister, Doris Wardell; and brothers, Otis Jr. and Richard Berkey.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton, with Pastor Joe Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wilmot.
