Age 93, of Canton, passed away on April 20, 2014. He was born May 22, 1920, in
Deshler, Ohio, to the late John and Laura George. Cecil was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific Fleet where he served as a Lieutenant. He graduated from University of Michigan with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and attended Bowling Green State University and the U.S. Naval Academy. Cecil began working for the Timken Company in 1946 as an Administrative Assistant and worked in Product Engineering for 32 1/2 years, retiring in 1979. He was a past member of the Stark County Model T Club, Veteran Motor Car Club of America, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Cecil was active in the Boy Scout Troop 37 with his sons. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and traveling the world. Cecil also played saxophone during school and played with many different bands.
Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Louise; sons, John (Nancy), David, and Tom; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd., from 6-8 p.m., in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel, with a funeral service at 11 a.m., on Thursday, April 24th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to John Knox Presbyterian Church or a
