Dale 'Windy'
84, of Alliance, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014, at McCrea Manor. He was born Dec. 11, 1929 in Alliance to Paul W. and Florence (Lee) Buttermore and was a lifelong resident. Dale attended Alliance and Goshen school systems and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was employed at Star Mills Feed Mill in Louisville and has been the owner since 1980. Windy dedicated his life to his loving family and operating Star Mills. Windy was the backbone of his family and enjoyed his customers in the farming community for over 66 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen Leonard of Alliance; grandchildren, Jason M. (Abbey) Leonard of Alliance and Michael Leonard of Louisville; great-grandson, Jarek M. Leonard; brother, Paul (Elise) Buttermore, Jr.; and sisters, Carol (Richard) Flickinger and Nancy Coman. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ann Chapple, Robert Buttermore, June Barnes, Frank Buttermore and Janie Cunningham.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Walton Schrader Funeral Home. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
