age 88, of Plain Township, passed away Tuesday evening, April 30, 2013 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 1, 1925 in Canton, Ohio to the late Wilbur and Cora (Gross) Harter. Dale was a graduate of Middlebranch High School, Class of 1943 and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served in the Pacific during World War II. He retired from the Hoover Company in April 1988 after 44 years of service. Dale loved to travel and was an avid football fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and GlenOak Golden Eagles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Don and Wayne Harter; and granddaughter, Tami Harter. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Wilma (Grant) Harter, whom he married on Aug. 15, 1948; children, James (Marti) Harter of Cortland, Ohio, Dawn (Greg) Fleury of Covina, Calif. and David (Mya) Harter of Stafford, Va.; grandchildren, Kari (Adam) Hineman, Georgeanne Harter, and Eric (Jamie) Fleury; great-granddaughters, Layla and Hailey; brother, Robert (Shirley) Harter; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Harter and Harriet Harter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home with interment at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
