David R. Johns
74, passed away suddenly on April 3, 2013. Born and raised in Bucyrus, Ohio, he and his family moved to Jackson Township upon his retirement in April, 1995. David was born Oct. 11, 1938 to Franklin M. Johns, Sr. and Grace G. (Hammond) Johns, both deceased. He was a 1956 graduate of Bucyrus High School and began a 38 year career at The Timken Company in Bucyrus. Most recently, Dave was the Facility Manager and a member of St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church. He enjoyed all sports especially golf and snow skiing, was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and spent many years boating on Lake Erie. Dave was a member of North Canton Eagles, Greentown VFW, and Canton Elks. He loved living life and all it had to offer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Franklin M. Johns Jr. and Rev. Richard E. Johns; sisters, Barbara L. Lyons and Bonnie E. Johns. David is survived by his wife, Joann (Boelens) Johns whom he married in June 1980; daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Sager of East Lansing, Mich.; sons, Kevin (Robin) Johns of Grand Rapids, Mich., Dustin Johns of Jacksonville, N.C.; father-in-law, Cyriel Boelens of Beach City; grandchildren Ben and Katie Johns and Joe Sager, all of Michigan plus much loved brothers and sisters- in-law, nephews, and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 7 at St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church, 4600 Fulton Dr. Canton, Ohio 44718, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 8 prior to an 11 a.m. funeral service also at the church. The Rev. Dr. Bruce R. Roth and Rev. Douglas Johns will officiate. Memorials may be made in David's honor to a .
