Duane C. Geitgey
82, of New Middletown, passed away at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Thursday afternoon surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Geitgey was born on Feb. 28, 1932, in Canton, a son of Glenn and Emma (Hawk) Geitgey.  He was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University. Duane married the former Marjorie Halter Nov. 7, 1953, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December of 1954.  After serving as Lieutenant in the Navy for many years, he would become an industrial engineering consultant and principal partner in Maynard Research Council and H.B. Maynard Company.  A member of Paradise Church in North Lima, he had served as a deacon on the church consistory.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving wife of over 60 years, Margie; sons: David (Georgia) Geitgey and Steven (Nina) Geitgey; granddaughters: Christina (Brandon) Kappler, Heather (Jonathan) Root, and Marianne Ashman; and great-grandchildren: Owen, Elijah, and Levi Root, and Evie Ashman; brother, William (Shirley) Geitgey; and sister, Judy Johanning; and his cat Lucky. Duane was preceded in death by his parents and triplet great-grandchildren, Nolan David, Brantley Reese, and Amelia Grace Kappler.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 15th. at 11:00 a.m. at Paradise Church, 10020 New Buffalo Road, Canfield, with Pastor David Parry officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 14th., from 4-7 p.m. at Seederly- Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima, and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Duane's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan. 66675.
