Harold F. 'Knappy' Knappenberger
age 84, died Friday after a long illness. Born in Akron he was a life resident of the Canton area. He was a 1947 graduate of Timken Vocational High School and was retired from the East Ohio Gas Company after 44 years of service. Knappy was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton, North Canton Eagles, Greentown V.F.W. and the Bolivar Army and Navy Union. He was a Korean War Air Force veteran.
Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Knappenberger and two brothers, Ronald and Gilbert Knappenberger. Survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Tony Melaragno of North Canton, Susan Russo (Tim Butt) and Lisa Knappenberger of Canton; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Gerald and Donna Knappenberger of Canton, Thomas Knappenberger of East Canton, James and Teresa Knappenberger of North Canton and Michael Knappenberger of Canton; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Joann Knappenberger of Arizona; brother, Richard Knappenberger of New Jersey and close friends, Trigger and Bob.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with Deacon Ron Reolfi officiating. Burial will be in the North Canton Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Aultman Compassionate Care Center. Condolences may be made to:
