age 79, of N. Canton died Oct. 30, 2012 of pancreatic cancer. Born in Canton Oct. 21, 1933 to the late Ira and Helen (Weyl) Essner he was retired from Gregory Galvanizing. Ira attended McKinley High School served two years in the Marine Corps, and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Florence.
Survivors include his second wife of 19 years, Lucille M. Essner; daughter, Barbara (Neil) Rupe of New Philadelphia, Ohio; sons, Ira N. (Jackie) Essner of Jackson Township, and Tim Essner of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Adam and Megan Rupe, both of Washington D.C.; sisters, Wilma Essner and Joan Ann (Dale Sr.) Walter. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Spiker-Foster-Shriver Funeral Home, 4817 Cleveland Ave. N.W. with Rev. Roy Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Church of Christ, 415 S. Main St., N. Canton, OH 44720.
