Jack Edward Cogan
The Guest Book is expired.
age 67, of Canton, Ohio passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013. He was born July 26, 1946 in Canton. Jack is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a major in history and his family will never forget his old yarns from his days on campus. He ran the Little Professor bookstore in Canton and worked at the Tinseltown Cinema where he was beloved by his colleagues of all ages. Jack was vibrant and passionate and his positive attitude was infectious. There was no such thing as a lull in the conversation with Jack. He was a passionate movie buff who may hold the record for movies watched in a lifetime and he was an avid fan of the Ohio State football team and the Cleveland Indians. Jack was the undisputed family champ of trivia across categories. He was a good family man, father and son devoted to his mother Doris Cogan and grandmother, Dorothy Aeschbacher. He is preceded in death by his father, Earl Cogan.
Jack is survived by his mother, Doris of Canton; his wife, Tina of Canton; sons, John (Kennedy) of New York City and Jeff (Deborah) of Chicago; daughter, Katie (Mike) of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Ellie, Lucy, Anna, and Everett; brother, Jim and sister, Joan, both of Canton; niece, Julie and nephew, Dan. He insisted on a Viking funeral with Rock of Ages to be performed by his family on kazoo which we unfortunately can't accommodate!
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 in the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel from 12 to 1 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Carolyn Wagar Hier and Fr. Thomas Dyer officiating. Those wishing to share a fond memory or their condolences may sign the Reed on-line guestbook at our website
