James W. Wilson
The Guest Book is expired.
Age 83, a resident of Altercare of Navarre. Jim was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Massillon, Ohio, to Karl and Mary (Turskey) Wilson. He was called home by our Heavenly Father on June 8, 2014. Jim at an early age took an interest in aircraft and flying, building model airplanes and hanging them from the ceiling of his bedroom. During his high school years he would hang out at the little local airport where he did odd jobs and eventually took lessons and learned to fly. He enlisted in the Air Force in August 1950. In March 1952, while home on leave, he took a bride and married Mary Helen Reynolds on March 9th. He was Honorably Discharged in March 1954. After the service, Western Union employed him as a Field Services Technician, from which he retired after over 20 years service. Jim was a dedicated provider and loving family man. He, with family members built their first house in Sandyville, Ohio, in which to raise a family, and ultimately moved his family to North Canton. In Jim's later years, his joy was building and flying radio control aircraft and spending time coloring with his beloved grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Helen, and four children, Jim (Louanne) Wilson, of Chesapeake, Va., Mary Lou Royer, of Massillon, Barbara Leachman and Chris Mooney, formerly of North Canton, and Diane Kranenburg, of Fallon, Nev. Also his beloved eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and two sisters Anna Bachtel and Lillian Smith. Besides his parents, Karl and Mary, Jim is preceded in death by two sisters, Mona Good and Doris Winkhart.
Family members wish to extend our gratitude to a very special friend, Bob Kane, who faithfully extended his love for Jim and his family by taking him out for breakfast every Sunday morning these last years of Jim's life. We, the family believe that Jim had a heart encounter with his Heavenly Father, as he would sit in a chair at the door of the chapel, while residing at Altercare of Navarre, and soon after he participated in their bell choir. 'Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God
.Beloved, now we are children of God: and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.' 1 John 3:1-2. A celebration of life will be announced to family and friends at a later date. Condolences, messages/ cards may be sent to Mary Helen Wilson, Room 312, at Altercare of Navarre, 517 Park St., Navarre, OH 44662.
