age 88 of Bolivar died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at 11:17 p.m. in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia. Born March 16, 1924 in Canton, he was a son of the late, John and Christine (Miller) Tabellion. He retired in 1988 as a welder from the Hercules Co. at Canton and formerly worked at the Gradall Co. in New Philadelphia and the Eberhart Coal Co. near Bolivar. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity at Zoar and was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Joe was a life member of the Dover V.F.W., a member of the Bolivar American Legion #190, a former member of the Bolivar Volunteer Fire Dept. and served as a Boy Scout Leader at Bolivar.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rita Gottsman whom he married June 16, 1947. Also surviving are a son and two daughters, Kenneth (Chris) Tabellion of Akron; and Betty Ann Dunton of Tallmadge and Karen (Roger) Tylke of Bolivar; grandchildren, Kerri (Dan) Orzech, Kelly (Paul) Ehmer, Katie (Josh) Zielaskiewicz, Elizabeth (Matthew) Pahls, Brandon (Missie) Tylke, Andy Tylke, Bob (Ari) Hatton, David (Lisa) Hatton; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Tabellion of Canton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy (Jim) and Dale (Mick) Tabellion and three sisters, Leah Kerr, Esther Schoeppner, and Eileen Reiter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home at 248 Park Ave, Bolivar. Deacon Lyn Houze will officiate and burial will follow at Fort Laurens Cemetery at Bolivar where the Bolivar American Legion will conduct Military Honors. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
