Lois Jean Davis
passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, in her residence at the Canton Regency. Born April 15, 1925, to the late George Earl and Grace (Adams) Walker, Lois graduated from Massillon Washington High School with the Class of 1942, where she had been a member of the Tiger 'Swing' Band under the direction of George Bird. Lois had been a member of Pigeon Run United Methodist Church most of her life and in later years, after moving to Canton, became a member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and a caring, loving mother and grandmother. She had also worked as a secretary at the former Republic Steel Co. and later at Central Allied Enterprises in Canton. Lois was a former member of the Women In Construction (WIC) Club. She and her husband Richard devoted many hours as volunteers with the Ohio Bell Pioneer's Club doing charity work with the Special Olympics, and for many years they also delivered meals for the Meals-On- Wheels program at Westbrook Park United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 47 years, Richard C. Davis who died in 1997. Lois is survived by three daughters, Sara Davis of Louisville, Ohio, Carol Craven of Toledo, Ohio, and Rebecca (John) Meldrum of Penhook, Va.; she is also survived by six grandchildren, Jennifer (Lucky) Vance of Roanoke, Va., Heather (Jeffery) Dunlap of Lithia, Fla., Bruce (Christina) Craven of Lambertville, Mich., Sean (Maryam) Geiger of Potomac Falls, Va., Terri (Daniel) Shaffner of North Canton and Todd (Melanie) Meldrum of Canton; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special friend and companion, Ed Burhenn of Canton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Atkinson Feucht Hare Funeral Home in Massillon where Rev. John Mather of Westbrook Park UMC will officiate. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 12-1 p.m., at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff of the Canton Regency for making their mother's stay there a wonderful experience.
