Age 84, of North Canton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013. He was born in Johnstown, Pa. to the late Ralph and Elsie Coleman. Dick was a 1946 graduate of Latrobe, Pa. High School and later earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University, where he met his future wife, Jane Kohler. After serving in the Army Signal Corps, Dick worked in the rubber and plastic industry and electric utility field for 30 years, and then operated a photography lab with his wife. The Coleman's pioneered the conversion in the Midwest from black and white to color in the poster size photo business. Dick held a Professional Engineer designation in the State of Ohio. Community service included Rotary International (Paul Harris Fellow), Chamber of Commerce activities, and North Canton Meals on Wheels. Pastimes included tennis, golf, painting, and music. He played trumpet in the Bucknell University symphony, and later led a dance combo in Mansfield, Ohio. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Chapin.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jane Coleman; daughters, Penny (Jerry) Maxhimer and Cynthia (Bob) Rosen; son, Scott (Mindi) Coleman; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Mausoleum Chapel at North Lawn Cemetery; a memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Eldon Trubee officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, North Canton Meals on Wheels, or the
