Richard J. Lewton
Age 87, of Dellroy, passed away Friday morning in Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar. He was born in Waynesburg, a son of the late Delo and Pearl (Ickes) Lewton, and resided in Dellroy most of his life. Richard was a 1943 graduate of Waynesburg High School. He was retired from Whitacre- Greer Fireproofing Co. after 29 years service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, including on Iwo Jima and was a member of Sandy Valley American Legion Post #432. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and golfer. Preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Lewton, on Sept. 6, 2007, and a brother and sister, Kenneth Lewton and Arlene Tirabassi.
Survived by his daughter, Jill Lewton, of Broadview Heights, Ohio and his son, Richard D. Lewton, of Dellroy; two grandsons, Max and Joe; and a sister, Hazel Gruber.
According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Contributions in Richard's memory may be made to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
