Richard W. (Dick) Sankey
Oct. 6, 1928-Feb. 26, 2013. Was born in Youngstown, Ohio.  He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948 and graduated from  Bowling Green State University in 1952. He spent most of his life in North Canton, Ohio where he started his own business, Alpha Enterprises, in 1972 which he ran until his retirement in 1989. He and his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Kline Sankey, then split their time between Ohio and Green Cove Springs, Fla. until settling in Raleigh, N.C. in 2010. Dick was a community-oriented man who was instrumental in the formation of Pathway House, an organization that helps children in need, based in Canton, Ohio. He was a long-standing member of the Canton Rotary Club and enjoyed golf and Bridge.
He is survived by his wife and two children;, Jim Sankey (Beth) of  Charlotte, N.C. and Suzanne Whitmeyer of Raleigh, N.C. and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Sankey  Collins and his son, David Sankey.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, March 1 at 2 p.m. at The Cypress of Raleigh. Memorial donations can be made to Pathway House, 4895 Dressler Road NW, Canton, OH  44718
