85, of Canton, Ohio, and Venice, Fla. died suddenly on Thursday, Jan. 30 in Venice, Fla. After graduating from Canton South High School, he served in the Army for two years. He worked at Harrison Paint Company in Canton for forty years. He attended Dueber United Methodist Church and Venice Church of the Nazarene. He was a talented athlete who enjoyed playing ping pong, baseball, softball, and fumble ball. As the pitcher in 1994, his team won the Senior Softball World Series in the 65 and over age bracket. He had a passion for cars and bicycles and enjoyed playing cards with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his oldest daughter, Suzetta in 1973. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna; three children, Sharon (Ron) Wilson, Scott (Donna) Barber, Steve (Jami) Barber; five grandchildren, Bryan Dean (Morgan) Wilson of San Diego, Brent Wilson of Chicago, James (Denise) Barber, Susan Barber, and Kathryn Barber, all of Ashland, KY; and several siblings and their families in Ohio.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with a service beginning at 1 p.m. at Dueber United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National MS Society. To send condolences please visit
