Ross A. Graber
age 67, of North Canton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013. He was born in Canton on Feb. 5, 1946 and was a 1963 graduate of Lake High School. Ross went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from The Ohio State University. While in college he joined the ROTC and enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant. While in the Air Force he served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Japan. He was promoted twice and was discharged as 1st Sgt. with Honors in 1970. Ross was employed as a journalist with the Canton Repository, retiring after 36 years of employment. Following his retirement, he loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting and school events. He was a member of Willowdale Lake Country Club and was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Dorothy Graber; his brother, David Graber; and his nephew, Davey Graber.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Chanelle "Chaney" and Rod Sommer; beloved grandchildren, Luke and Emma Sommer; niece, Chris Graber; great-niece, Rachel Graber; aunt and uncle, Ginny and Dan Beachy; cousins, Denise Smith and family and Laura Hurless and family; lifelong friends, Dave and Carol Holl; and numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel, 801 Pittsburg Ave. NW, with the Rev. John P. Maroni officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Uniontown. Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a memorial fund set up for Ross's grandchildren, at any Bank of Magnolia branch.
