Thomas C.
Age 72, of North Canton, passed away Thursday at his summer home on Lake Michigan, where he and Sue and their family had spent many summers. He was born in Canton, a son of the late Clark and Helen (Lair) Sponseller, and was a life resident of this area. Tom was a 1959 graduate of Timken High School and a graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Business. He also attended Indiana University for advanced training in Savings & Loan. Tom was a C.P.A. and was retired from Lindsay Concrete Products where he was Accountant/Controller. Previously he was Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice –President for Charter One. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church. Tom served on the Jackson Local Board of Education for 12 years, and also served in the U.S. Air Force. Tom lived for his family and dearly loved his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan E. Sponseller, with whom he celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on June 24; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Mohan Rajaratnam, of Massillon, and Chris and Bob Klaiber, of North Royalton, Ohio; one son, David Sponseller, of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Klaiber, and Cole and Madison Rajaratnam; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Kate Sponseller, of Dellroy, Bob and Lottie Sponseller, of Malvern, and John and Kay Sponseller, of Canton.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Peters Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Bishop and Fr. Edward Beneleit as Celebrants. Friends may call Friday 5-8 p.m. at the Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral Home. Tom cherished his friends and extended family in Michigan as well as all his many friends here in Canton.
