Beth Welch Heimann, 90, a four-year resident of Annapolis and previously a longtime resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died January 26 after a brief illness. Born July 10, 1922 to Oscar Welch and Vera Cunningham Welch in Colorado Springs Colorado, Beth moved frequently growing up, living in Denison, TX, Joplin, MO, St. Louis, MO, McAlester, OK, and Muskogee, OK.She graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1939, and went on to receive a BA from the University of Arkansas and a Library Science degree from Louisiana State University.She worked for many years as a children's librarian, receiving the Oklahoma Library Association Distinguished Service Award in 1967.One of her early jobs was driving a bookmobile through rural communities in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City for over 50 years, serving as an Elder, Sunday school teacher and member of the Christian Education Committee. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Emil Heimann, who she married in 1960 and who died in 2009. She is survived by two sons, Martin Heimann of Allentown, PA, and David Heimann of Annapolis; two daughters-in-law, Marsha Heimann and Jeannie Heimann; as well as five grandchildren (Jake, Noah, and Matthew Heimann of Annapolis, Kyle McDaniel of Oakland, CA, and Meghan McDaniel Perrin of New Providence, NJ); and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Cole Perrin.
