COOPER, CATHERINE H. (age 86) of the Southaven community near Annapolis, MD passed away on September 9th, 2012. Mrs. Cooper was born a week after Easter, 1926 in New Orleans, LA., and graduated from Tulane University with a Masters degree in teaching. She taught elementary school in New Orleans before moving to Maryland after marrying Henry Cooper. In Maryland, just outside Washington D.C. she taught elementary school in Oxen Hill, Suitland and North Forestville. She also taught bible school at her Presbyterian church.

Mr. & Mrs. Cooper moved to Annapolis in 1984 after they both retired. In Annapolis, Catherine was active in local volunteer work, including the Annapolis City Dock visitor information center, Department of Natural Resources Gift Shop, and as an usher at the Maryland Hall for the Performing Arts. She also volunteered at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. Although retired from teaching, she volunteered for nearly a decade at the Crofton Woods Elementary School as a teaching assistant. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the U.S and Europe. Her hobbies included gardening, arts & crafts, particularly sewn/quilted articles, pressed flowers, ornaments, and small paintings; participating in craft fairs and supporting church functions. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years. She is survived by her son John, daughter Carolyn, and grand-daughter Jennifer.
A memorial service will be held on September 15, 2012 at 11:00a.m. at the Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church, 1657 Crofton Parkway, Crofton, MD. Arrangements provided by Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the
