GERSHUNY, DIANE, 53, on Monday, December 9, 2013 died of esophageal cancer at her home in Long Beach, California. Diane died peacefully in the arms of her family and friends. She was the beloved daughter of Helene B. Leanos of Annapolis, Maryland and William A. Gershuny of Mandeville, Louisiana, and the beloved stepdaughter of Gus Leanos and Gail W. Gershuny. Diane was preceded in death by her brother, John Eric Gershuny. She is survived by her loving stepsister, Joan Leanos, and stepbrothers, Stephen and William Leanos, dear cousins, Anne and Bruce Thomas, and their children, Jillian and Parker, Hillary Sherwood and Joshua Sherwood. She was married to Chris Fleming and had a stepdaughter, Hannah. She leaves her faithful dog, Lucie, who now resides with great friends, in Long Beach. Diane resided in The Community of Rose Park where she loved her little casa on the park circle. Diane was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, delivered by Dr. Hyman Cantor who also delivered her mother. She lived in Washington, D.C., attended Virginia Commonwealth University, and earned a fine arts degree from Maryland Institute of Art in Photography. She became an award winning PR maven and journalist who has written about music, musicians, instruments and pro audio for over 20 years. She traveled extensively, for work and pleasure. Diane handled Marketing, P.R., and Artist Relations for some of the top global MI/Pro Audio companies such as Fender, Mackie Designs and TASCAM. She managed regional PR for Long Beach 4th Street/Retro Row Shopping District and 1920's Art Theatre. She received recognition awards from the City for her unwavering leadership efforts. She worked tirelessly while fighting cancer. The family wishes to thank the many friends who supported Diane during her illness, and Silverado Hospice of Long Beach for their care. A memorial service is planned for the end of January in Long Beach, California.
