Douglas Lee Kessinger, 68, of Stevensville, died December 12 surrounded by his loving family at the Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born on October 5, 1944, he was the son of the late Fred William and Mildred Cox Kessinger. Doug grew up in Arnold, and was a 1963 graduate of Severna Park High School. He
served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Korea. In 1965, he married the former Lee Jones and he continued his service in Germany. After his service, Doug returned to Arnold and began his career with Honeywell, where he worked for 27 years. In 1972, the Kessinger family moved to Stevensville. Doug was employed with ManTech at the time of his death.
An outdoorsman at heart, Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He was a member of the American Legion Post 278.
He was predeceased by a brother, Russell Kessinger in 1998.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lee Kessinger; beloved mother in-law, Ginger Jones; his children, Karen Booze (Harry) of Chester, SSG Frederick Kessinger Sr. (Heidi) of Salisbury, and Stephanie Booze (Daniel) of Stevensville; his siblings, Jim Kessinger (Diane) of Stevensville, Peggy Morgan of Cape St. Claire, his twin brother, Donald Kessinger of Hope Mills, NC, and Dickie Kessinger of Speedway, WV; sister-in-law, Theresa Kessinger; and eight grandchildren, SGT Frederick Kessinger Jr., Lorynn Kessinger, Maura Booze, Mikayla Booze, Cameron Booze, Sydney Booze, Breanna Gray and Michael Sandoe.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, at the Kent Island United Methodist Church in Chester, where fellowship will immediately follow in the church hall.
