Evelyn LaFaye Wolfe, 90, died peacefully September 9 in Annapolis. Evelyn was born January 4, 1923 in Viborg, South Dakota, After the death of her mother, Evelyn, the youngest of eight brothers and sisters, was adopted by Glen and Myrtle Sheeley, of Baltimore.. Upon graduation from Paterson Park High School in 1943, Evelyn went to work at Bethlehem Steel, where she met and married Robert Y. (RY) Wolfe. He was a commercial pilot and a Maryland State police officer. Evelyn was a student of the Civil War and enjoyed reading classic novels. She also enjoyed stamp collecting, handwriting analysis, playing the harmonica, and playing the piano. She was a life-long student of the Bible and a member of First Baptist Church, Dundalk prior to moving to Annapolis. In March of 2000, she joined Heritage Baptist Church and became a member of the adult choir. Evelyn is survived two sons, William Wolfe (wife Chris) of Annapolis and Robert Wolfe of Mayo; brother, Norman Christophersen of Elkhart, Indiana; two sisters, Ethel Crowley of Norton, Massachusetts and Clara Webb of Newport News, Virginia; and two grandchildren, Wesley Wolfe and Heather Wolfe of Mayo. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday September 27 at Heritage Baptist Church, 1740 Forest Drive, Annapolis. Interment will be a private family service at Rose Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Baptist Church.
