James Mattia
James Brian Mattia, 52, a Gambrills resident since 1971, died September 28 at home.
He was born November 2, 1959 in Washington, D.C., the son of
Robert J. Mattia and Mary Mattia. Graduating from Arundel High School, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1977, where he was discharged as a Sergeant nine years later from the USMC Reserves.
James worked as a Journeyman electrician for IBEW Local 26. He was a member of the Mason Odenton Lodge, and was a sportsman who enjoyed camping and skiing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Mattia, and his sister, JoAnn Macon.
James is survived by his mother, Mary Mattia of Gambrills; and his sisters, Tina Mattia of Gambrills and Karen Mattia Pompey of Odenton.
There is a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, October 3, at Hardesty Funeral Home, P.A., 851 Annapolis Rd., Gambrills. Interment following services at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville. Online condolences can be made at
