James McLaughlin James "Jim" Francis McLaughlin, 79, a 36-year resident of Severn died January 16 at BWMC due to heart failure. Born May 17, 1933 in Baltimore, Jim attended St. Dominic's, Loyola High School and graduated in 1954 from Loyola College with a Business Degree. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and was discharged from the reserves in 1963. He was employed with Martin Marietta Gemini Program. He was also the Westinghouse Oceanic Division Program Manager for 38 years, retiring in 1996. Jim was a member of St. Bernadette Church, a past member of the Maryland Yacht Club, American Legion Post 276 and Old B's Club. He enjoyed boating, car races and was a Ravens fan. Jim is survived by his wife, Sheila E. McLaughlin, whom he married March 15, 1985; two sons, Troy P. Pfarr of Severn and Jay T. McLaughlin of Louisiana; daughter, Tammy McLaughlin of Massachusetts; and ten grandchildren. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills, where funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
