DAVIS, MILDRED "JANE," The children of Jane Davis sadly report her peaceful passing into God's hands, surrounded by her family, on September 29, 2012, after an extended illness. At the time of her passing she was a resident of Westminster, MD. Prior to that she resided in Crofton, Md.

Born October 9, 1931, in Fletcher, NC. She had a distinguished and versatile career as a Veteran in the Woman's Army Corp (1950-1953); Department of State (1954); Department of the Army (1966-1968 and 1983-1985). She joined NSA in 1985 and served primarily with the Security Division until her retirement in 1993.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Lonard N. (aka "JIM") Davis, who passed away in 2005. Jim was recognized as one of the foremost Cryptologic Custodians in the Military. Survivors include her three children – sons Michael and Mark, and daughter Carol Cain (also a Agency employee); a son-in-law, daughter-in-law; three grand-children and two great-grandchildren. Out of state family includes a sister and two nieces.

She loved spending time with the family, was an avid reader, gardener, traveler and participant in local military life. Her most admirable and memorable attribute was that of a "Pure Southern Lady." You will be truly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, at Brightview Westminster Ridge, Great Room, 505 High Acre Drive, Westminister, MD 21157 (410 871-2225). She will join her beloved husband at Arlington Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the , 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, Md. 21093, or the .
