John Shorter

John Jackson Shorter, 87, a 21-year resident of Hagerstown and previously of Gambrills, died March 11 at home of natural causes. He was born January 26, 1926 in Glenvar, VA. John served in the U.S. Navy, and worked in civil service for the U.S. Government. He is remembered as the Dad who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, in 1998; and his sons, Larry and Dean. He is survived by his sons, Ronnie of Hagerstown, and Leon of North Carolina; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. There will be a visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, at Hardesty Funeral Home, 851 Annapolis Rd., Gambrills. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at the Hardesty Funeral Home in Gambrills. Interment Glen Haven Cemetery, Glen Burnie.
