TURNER, JUNE CALDWELL, 77, a beloved wife, devoted mother and retired school teacher who was also a dedicated member of St. Edward's Catholic Church and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., died May 10 at her home in Bowie. She had lived in Prince George's County since 1973. June C. Turner was born June 11, 1935, in Denver, Colorado into the loving family of Wilba and Inez Caldwell. Working more than 30 years as a teacher, she retired from Saint Gabriel's Catholic School in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Turner has been an active member of Saint Edward's Church for forty years and is a "Golden" Soror of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for her more than 50 years of service to all mankind. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Henry C. Turner, COL, USA, Ret., her parents and siblings. She leaves to celebrate her life four children, LTC Henry C. Turner Jr., USA, Ret., the Honorable Ingrid M. Turner, Prince George's County Council Member, CDR, USN, Ret., LTC Michael E. Turner, USA., and LTC Eric C. Turner, USA, Ret.; three daughter in-laws, nine grandchildren, and one great grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Edward's The Confessor Catholic Church on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 10am. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
