LARGENT, KENNETH WILLIAM, 90, born April 19, 1924 in Winchester, Virginia passed away July 12, 2014. Mr. Largent graduated from Handley High School. He served in the U.S. Navy 1942 to September 1945 in World War II. Among his many decorations are the Asiatic-Pacific and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medals, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Distinguished Service Cross, Good Conduct and Victory Medals, a Presidential Citation and two Ship Citations. After 45 years in the construction business, he retired in 1989 from commercial and residential building. He was a licensed Thoroughbred Horse Owner for over 34 years, racing in Maryland, New Jersey, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New York. Mr. Largent was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Prince Georges County Lodge No. 1778 for 50 years where he was Elk of Year. Among the many offices he held are: State President of the Maryland, Delaware and District of Columbia Elks Association, District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler and Exalted Ruler. He was a ardent supporter of Elks Camp Barrett in Crownsville and a member of the Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Georgia, daughter Penny and son-in-law, Vincent Cravero. He is also survived by two sons, Kenny Bill and Ronny Largent; daughters. Bonnie Stokes, Terry Wymer and Sherrie; 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and one brother, Eugene Largent of Millsboro, Delaware. He is predeceased by twins, Kathy and Edward Largent, daughter, Connie Fursteneau, father and mother, Ernest and Pearl Lee Mason Largent and one sister, Penny Nichols of Greer. South Carolina. Visitation is from 11:30 am. Until funeral service begins at 1 p.m.,Tuesday, July 15 at Hardesty Funeral Home, Gambrills, Maryland.
