STAVELY, LOUIS GRANT SR., 87, of Littlestown, PA, died May 16, 2014, at home. He is survived by his wife of 65 years and high school sweetheart, Agnes M. (Kensinger) Stavely. Born April 16, 1927 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harry W. & Elizabeth (Ulrich) Stavely. Grant was a Hyattsville High School graduate, served in the Marine Corps during WWII, and retired after 38 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Hyattsville, MD. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are 13 children: Catherine Stavely of Annapolis, MD; Louis G. Stavely, Jr. & Betty of Ijamsville, MD; Susan S. Bannigan of Annapolis, MD; Geraldine Daniels and Bob of Ormond Beach, FL; Brian Stavely and Kim of Gettysburg, PA; Gregory Stavely and Paddi of Burtonsville, MD; Agnes Burke and Eddie of Littleton, NC; Bernadette Rentfro and Ed of Potomac, MD; Joseph Stavely and Shelley of Boyds, MD; Steven Stavely and Sue of Sunderland, MD; David Stavely and Rhonda of Huntingtown, MD; Michael Stavely and Anne of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Ellen Karavangelos and Lance of Olney, MD; numerous grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; his brother, Robert Stavely and Dorothy of Hyattsville, MD; and his sister, Theresa Dungan, of Warsaw, VA. Grant was predeceased by a grandson, Kevin Stavely, three brothers: John Francis, Sr., Harry W. Jr., and Bernard; and his sister, Charlotte Houston. Grant was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Catholic War Veterans, as well as a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing. Viewing will be held Monday, May 19, 2014 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Little's Funeral Home in Littlestown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church in Littlestown with interment to follow in the parish cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Littlestown Allied Veterans Council. Grant's seven sons will serve as pallbearers.
