SIMS, MICHAEL SEAN, born on January 15, 1966, in Longview, Texas, passed from this life on September 4, 2013, in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Sean as we knew him is survived by his parents David Michael Sims and Gretchen Sims Sampson, daughter, Peyton Elizabeth Sims of Ellicott City, Maryland; brothers Michael Shane Sims of Cypress, Texas; Skyler Kingsley Sims of Houston, Texas; and a sister, Steely Cheyenne Taglione of Wesley Chapel, Florida. Sean graduated from Longview High School, attended The University of Texas in Austin, and went on to pursue a career as a professional chef. His last two executive chef positions were at the Turf Valley Country Club in Ellicott City, Maryland, the oldest country club in Maryland, and the Hilton Hotel in Pikesville, Maryland. Sean loved competition and was always up for a challenge. He truly loved food. He was recognized as the "Crab Cake King" of Maryland for several consecutive years. After 20 years in the food industry, Sean focused his talents and sense of responsibility on a new career with Environmental Packaging Technologies (EPT) of Houston. Always with attention to detail, his professionalism and personal demeanor won the admiration of the entire EPT organization and customers worldwide. He was an intelligent, erudite, and self-motivated go-getter with a keen sense of humor. He was also recognized as a skilled marksman and was part of the Maryland State Sporting Clays Team for many years. He loved to hunt and fish and was most at peace while doing this. He recently had purchased a motorcycle and was really enjoying the wind in his face. While his passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all who knew him, his memory will be deeply cherished by his family, friends, colleagues, customers and all whose lives he touched. Sean, we love you! Sean's celebration of life will be Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Cypress United Methodist Church; 13403 Cypress N. Houston Rd., at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has decided to help leave Sean's legacy to his daughter. A donation may be made in honor of Michael Sims at any Chase Bank: Account #2979379728.
