Raymond Neall Obituary

NEALL, RAYMOND ALLEN, 82, a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County (Glen Burnie and Linthicum), passed away peacefully on February 20, 2013. Ray was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 12, 1930 to the late Allen and Dorothy (Mewshaw) Neall, and along with his wife Gloria, graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1947. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 and worked for most of his life at the Maryland Shipbuilding and Dry-dock Company. He also worked for Bethlehem Steel at their Sparrows Point Shipyard and Ameron Marine Coatings until he retired in 1995. Besides his family, his other passion in retirement was being an active member in the Anne Arundel Alarmers, the canteen and rehabilitation unit of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Ray thoroughly loved devoting his time to taking care of the firefighters as they worked to protect the citizens of Anne Arundel County. Ray was also a member of the Glen Burnie Masonic Lodge. Ray is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria (Meseke); two sons, Raymond Neall, Jr. of Crofton and David Neall of Pasadena; grandsons, Jeffrey, Brian, Andrew and Christopher Neall; granddaughters, Sherri Barnwell and Amy Nelson; great-grandsons, Caleb and Austin Barnwell; great-granddaughters, Morgan and Camryn Neall; step-grandsons, Thomas MacKay, Mike Smith and Nick Smith; and step-granddaughter, Michelle Leonard. Family and friends are invited to honor Ray's life during a memorial gathering held at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue SW, Glen Burnie, from 5-8 PM on Monday, Feb. 25th, with a Celebration of Life Service immediately following at 8 PM. Interment will be held on Tuesday, 1 PM, at MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway; Annapolis, MD 21401 OR the Anne Arundel Alarmers Association, Inc., 115 Glenmont Ave.; Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
