GLEN, ROBERT A graveside service for Robert Albert "Bob" Glen, 88, of Lothian and previously of Tulsa, OK, is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Arlington National Cemetery. Bob died on September 28, 2013, only 34 days after the death of his beloved second wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Gummerus-Glen whom he married in 1994. Bob was born on September 12, 1925 in Detroit, MI to the late James Barr and Flora Clark Glen who emigrated from Scotland in 1923. Bob graduated from high school in Detroit and entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943. He retired in 1971 following 28 years of service during which he received many accolades including Republic of Viet Nam Meritorious Unit Citation with Palm, Navy Commendation Medal with "V", Asiatic Pacific Medal with 4 Stars, European Occupation Medal, and Korean Service Medal. After retirement, Bob worked in the oil industry in Oklahoma for several years. He was an avid reader of U.S. history, especially military, and read the paper daily. He enjoyed puttering in the yard, planting flowers and bulbs. He also enjoyed being part of his neighborhood, being a friend, and lending a helping hand whenever possible. Bob had a kind and gentle spirit and always kept a positive attitude. He was an inspiration to his family and a dedicated caregiver to his wife, Betty, throughout her lengthy illness. In addition to his second wife, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy, who died in 1992 after 42 years of marriage; his two daughters from his first marriage, Elizabeth Guy and Tammy Tauber; a brother and a sister. He is survived by a sister, June Glen of Dearborn Heights, MI; stepson, Paul Gummerus of Kauai, HI; three stepdaughters, Helen Valencia of Peyton, CO, Kathleen St. Germain of Arboles, CO, and Jassy Valenzuela of La Jolla, CA; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
