Walter Francis Obituary

FRANCIS, WALTER, 87, of Odenton, died Saturday, November 9th 2013. Mr. Francis was born on April 10, 1926 in Jenkins, KY and grew up in McKees Rocks, PA. Serving 30 years in the Navy, CTTCM Master Chief Francis was stationed in Illinois, Japan, Turkey, Maine, Morocco, Spain and retired from Ft. Meade, MD. Survivors include three daughters: M Darlene (Odenton), Anita L (Destin, FL) and Felicia J (Crofton); and four sons: Tony R (Arlington, VA), Walter J (Odenton), James A (Lincoln University, PA) and Daniel M (Tampa, FL);; two sisters: Bea Peters (Largo, FL) and Madge Presutti (Coraopolis, PA); 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. A long-time and active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, he and his late wife, Margaret Rose (deceased in 2001) moved to Zephyrhills, FL in 1991. Walter ("Mayo") Francis, a loving husband and proud father, was an insurance salesman, realtor and manager at Kaufman's Tavern. A member of the Knights of Columbus, he will be fondly remembered for his singing, dancing and dedication to the Church. Viewing will be held on Friday, November 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Hardesty Funeral Home 851 Annapolis Road Gambrills, MD 21054 Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1283 Odenton Rd. Odenton, MD 21113 on Saturday, November 16 at 10:00am. Interment will be held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Maryland Chapter/Alzheimer's Association: www.alz.org/maryland | (410-561-9099).
