Gale Onza Cole, 82, a 33-year resident of Breezewood, PA and formerly of Annapolis, died peacefully March 29 at the Altoona Regional Medical Center in Altoona, PA due to complications from multiple illnesses. Born March 27, 1931 in Blackwater, Lee County, VA to the late Hurbert Cole and Dora (Tomlinson) Cole, Gale graduated from high school and worked at various jobs until he became a police officer with the Annapolis City Police from 1957 until he retired as a Sergeant in 1980. Gale enjoyed sightseeing, looking for the best restaurants, hunting, or any activity that had him with friends or family while being outdoors. In addition to his parents, Gale was preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer, Ellis, Earl, and Carson Cole; and two sisters, Betty Green and Eva Lee Suber He is survived by his wife, Edna Elaine (Long) Cole, whom he married August 23, 1971; six sons, David Cole, Virgal Cole, Henry Cole, Barry Cole, Bruce Cole and Bryan Higgs; five daughters, Mabel Lawson, Shirley Hale, Brenda Higgs, Bonnie Higgs, and Becky Lammers; brother, Billy Ray Cole; 32 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m., including a 3:30 p.m. Chapel service, and 6 to 8 p.m., April 4 at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis.
