George Allen Wenn "Butch", 65, died April 29, at his home with his family by his side. Born August 22, 1947 in Annapolis to Marion Wenn and the late George Wenn, George attended Anne Arundel County Public Schools and graduated from Wiley H. Bates High School in 1965. He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 -1968, receiving an honorable discharge after rising to the rank of Sergeant. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was awarded several medals including the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal. He went on to work for several defense contractors, including Gould Incorporated for twenty years and was most recently employed as Program Manager at Sotera Engineered Solutions. In addition to his father, George was preceded in death by his brother Charles Wenn. George is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Nancy Wenn; his mother; four sons, George Jr. (Patricia), Gerald Wenn, Brian Gribble and Brandon Wenn; three daughters Denine Messersmith (Adam), Ronnell Fortune (Mark) and Dawn Lopez;15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Monday, May 6, at St. Phillips Episcopal Church, 730 Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401.
