HAAS , RALPH ERWIN, 90, a resident of Arnold, passed away on August 15, 2013 at Washington Hospital Center after a brief battle with pneumonia. Born October 8, 1922 in Ripley County, Indiana he was the son of the late William and Gladys Haas. He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Haas and sister Vera Eback. Ralph served four years in the U.S. Navy as Pharmacist Mate 2/C and was a World War II Veteran. Combat Duty was served in the South Pacific at Okinawa, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. He retired from the Federal Government as a machinist. He enjoyed playing poker, woodworking and being with family and friends. Spent many hours playing with Henry, his miniature Dachshund. Ralph is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathryn (Baker) Haas; son, Timothy and his wife Sandra of Pasadena and their two children Jason Dixon and Brittany Haas. And his three sisters, Ruby Pendleton of Arizona, Joanne Harmon of Florida and Maxine Meisberger of Indiana. He will be remembered by all as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, a good friend and a kind and loving person. Memorial contributions may be made to the . Services were private.
