Walter Robinette Obituary

of Pasadena, age 50, passed away peacefully on May 9th at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, due to complications caused by a Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Walt was a lifelong resident of the Pasadena and Glen Burnie area. Graduating in 1984 from Glen Burnie High School, where he was a 3 star athlete in football, basketball and baseball. Shortly after graduation, Walt made the decision to join the Marine Corp. He completed boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, and graduated having earned and been promoted to the honor of Lance Corporal. Walt often credited his time in the Marines for instilling in him the importance of Honor, Respect and Discipline, which he strived to achieve throughout his daily life. He was a dedicated and enthusiastic employee, with an exemplary work ethic. He was a concrete boom-truck operator for over 20 years, where he poured concrete foundations for thousands of projects including homes, office buildings, hospitals, high rises and bridges. Walt took great pride in his work, and most recently worked for Belfast Valley Contractors. Walt's serious love of sports started at the age of 8 when he played football with the "Rebels", a youth sports organization in the Glen Burnie area. His love of sports continued throughout his junior and high school years. During the summer months, he could often be found at Dorsey Road Park from sun up to sun down, honing his basketball skills with friends or new acquaintances. Walt had an insatiable appetite, and unlimited supply of energy when it came to sports. He went on to play semi-pro football for the Jr. Ravens, until a serious shoulder injury prevented him from being able to play. He continued to enjoy sports by watching and routing for college teams. He would in no uncertain terms tell you that "college athletes were the ones who played with heart, soul and a fire in their belly", and he always found them a thrill to watch. Walt often sported an FSU sweatshirt, showing enthusiasm for his overall favorite college team. It was a natural progression for Walt to become a coach, having had great respect for those who had coached him. Walt coached for the Bucaneers Organization in Pasadena, where his son Andrew is an athlete. Walt took great pride in this position, the responsibility that came with it, and the Bucs Organization where he served on their board of directors. "Coach Walt" was an extraordinary, and enthusiastic mentor for these youths, and loved spending his time working with them. It was apparent when watching a game, the youths on his teams admired and respected him. He had the uncanny ability to truly connect with them on their level. Walt found a way to take the two most important things in life to him, love of family, and love of sports, and blend them together perfectly. This is evident by the "one team, one family" motto printed on the Buccaneers team uniforms. Walt's strong personal moral compass, allowed friends, family and employers, to know they could always count on him for whatever was needed. He was a strong port whenever there was a storm, could make you laugh at the drop of a hat, shake your head in wonder at his athletic ability, continually amaze you with his larger than life personality and dazzle you with his incredible smile and boisterous laugh. There was only one Walt Robinette, and the world was truly a better place with him in it. He will be missed by many, young and old, but will never be forgotten by any. Walt leaves behind his wife of 15 years, Barbara Robinette, sons Andrew, Tyler and Kody Robinette, and daughter Logan Robinette, mother Aloha Randolph, step-father Fredrick Aaron, sister Toy Garfield and step-brother David Estrin. In addition to his father, Walt is preceded in death by his daughter Layla Robinette and his brother Eric Robinette.

Just came across Walt´s obituary. Though this is many years later, to Walt´s family, I extend my condolences. I was a teammate of Walt´s on the Arbutus Golden Eagles semi pro football team in the late 80´s. Walt was a fine Quarterback and teammate. I protected his blindside as one of his fullbacks. Rest in peace Walt. Mike Kunkel.
