Harvey L. "Herbie" Lowe Sr., 80, of Frederick, formerly of Mount Airy and Winter Haven, Florida, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 12, 1933, he was the son of the late Reginald Lowe and Ruth Bowman. He was the husband of Ruth A. Lowe, his wife of 58 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army.

He retired from Montgomery County Schools after 28 years as a painting supervisor.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Gold Post 191 of Mount Airy. He was a friend of Bill Wilson for more 34 years. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast as well as a baseball and football fan. He also enjoyed fishing.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children and spouses Patricia and Robbie Buzzo, of Morgantown, West Virginia, Penny Dove and companion Theo Braswell, of Fleming Island, Florida, Pamela and Tommy Grimm, of Inwood, West Virginia, Herbie and Hazel Lowe, of Taneytown, and Peggy and Jeff Landis, of Frederick; grandchildren Joshua Lamb, Jeannie and Shaun Moore, Justin and Kristen Sanders, Jessica Dove, Jackie Kate Dove, Amelia and Matthew Brown, Heather Landis and Nicholas Lowe; step-grandchildren Ashley and Chelsea Grimm; great-grandchildren Jonah Moore, Addison Sanders and Alaina Moore; a brother, Norman Lowe, of Delaware; a sister, Eleanor Collins, of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Lowe; and a sister, Jackie Christin.

Family members and friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Prospect United Methodist Cemetery in Mount Airy.
