Jane S. Hardesty, 87, of Mount Airy, died Monday, March 17, 2014, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Sykesville.
Born Aug. 8, 1926, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Virginia Groom Eaton. She was the wife of the late Donald H. Hardesty, her husband of 58 years, who died in 2004.
She was a former typing teacher at Mount St. Joseph's High School from 1970 to 1988. She was also a homemaker. She was a woman of faith and was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Poplar Springs.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Donna Hafner and Calvin, Patricia Mohorovic and Dennis, Terry Burch and Michael, and Eileen Widerman and Dean; son and daughter-in-law Bruce Hardesty and Dolores; a sister, Kathleen Smith; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michaels Road, Mount Airy. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
